Over the past years, I have been photographing Polish boys and men while resting and sleeping in their domestic environments, a particular state of being when socially enforced norms of masculinity are temporarily suspended. The bed or couch serves here as a place of refuge: a place protected from cultural surveillance, an escape from compulsory displays of gender.
